Position Title

Graduate Rotational Program - Aviation Asset Valuations, Forecasting, Asset Mgmt

Position Description

The Graduate Rotational Intern will spend four months in three of mba Aviation's (mba) teams, including: Appraisal Group, Forecasting and Modelling Group, and Asset Management Group. The Intern will work closely with the head of each group and assist with research, data analysis, and various projects, as assigned. This position is designed to give a recently graduated professional experience in multiple aspects of aviation consulting with the possibility of a full-time position in the best-fit group should a position be available and both the company and the Intern wish to continue.  

Responsibilities:  

Phase 1: Appraisal Group 

  • Assist with various research projects, data collection and analysis, and other projects under the guidance of various group members. 
  • Become familiar with different aviation assets and their respective markets, including aircraft, engines, helicopters, spare parts, ground service equipment, flight simulators, etc. 
  • Learn about mba’s appraisal methodology and perform aircraft appraisals. 
  • Interpret aircraft leases and maintenance status sheets to extract information relevant to forecasting and valuations. 
  • Work closely with members of the Appraisal Group to gather market intelligence through communication with lessors, airlines, and other industry stakeholders. 
  • Participate in quarterly values updates and publication for aircraft and engines. 
  • Research topics of interest and produce a white paper, which will be published by mba.  

Phase 2: Forecasting Group 

  • Utilize Excel-based cashflow models as well as data provided by clients and mba Aviation’s industry knowledge to provide highly detailed maintenance cash flow forecasts to lessors and banks. 
  • Assist is preparation of business valuations and aviation investment due diligence.  

Phase 3: Asset Management Group 

  • Review lease documents and glean necessary data for compliance with lease terms. 
  • Run DCF & valuation models to determine feasibility of undertaking new projects. 
  • Forecast maintenance status and cash-flows associated with aircraft lease. 
  • Enter Lessee monthly information into asset management software, to include:

                                 o Aircraft, Engine, APU, Landing Gear Utilization o Engine, APU location 

                                 o Maintenance events

                                 o Issue Lessee invoices 

                                                                   Basic Rent 

                                                                   Supplemental Rent (Maintenance Reserves)

Required Skills

Requirements: 

  • Recent completion of a degree (undergraduate or graduate level) in a business, finance, economics, STEM, or aviation-related field.
  • Interest in the aviation industry is a must. 
  • Must have intermediate skills in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint. 
  • Experience with Excel VBA, PowerBI, SQL, or another data analytics/visualization software is a plus, but not required. 
  • Strong written and oral communication skills and ability to clearly communicate abstract concepts with clients and team members. 
  • Analytical and detail-oriented. 
  • Ability to function in a collaborative, team-oriented environment. 
  • Strong time-management and organizational skills. 
  • Self-starter and goal-oriented. 
  • Ability to be located at the position and work in the office.
